heroes the untold story volume two December 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
this is a graphic novel collecting lots of comic strips published online that tie in with the tv show heroes. I'm assuming that anyone who reads this review will be familiar with the show, and if you're not you won't really be able to get into this. If the latter applies go and watch season one of the show on dvd and take it from there.
if you are familiar with the programme then move on.
these strips - volume one was published last year - are comics that initially appear online and then in collected form. they tie into the show in that they tell untold stories of the characters involved in it, often filling in little bits of their past that haven't been touched on in the tv show. thus here we have the life story of the haitian, a few stories showing important moments in the life of mister bennet, and a few bits of elle's untold life story also.
all the strips run for six pages. some are complete in six pages. some are multi part stories.
some also tell one off stories featuring characters we've never seen on tv, and probably never will. not just because the comic medium allows for the creators to do things that wouldnt work on tv.
a slight feeling - just like the tv show - of novelty wearing off here, because whilst the majority of the strips are very good some are a little inconsquential, and there are some plot lines set up and characters stories begun that are never quite followed through. maybe for future volumes, given that there will be a volume three next year.
but all in all an entertaining volume, which runs for roughly 280 pages, and if you like the programme there should be enough to entertain you here
